3.4 billion GPS points

Billions of points, one browser tab
Earth Traffic renders 3.4 billion GPS points as hexbin congestion, served as vector tiles straight from object storage. There is no tile server behind it and nothing to install: open the tab and the roads are already moving.
Scrub hour by hour across the week, or play it back at speed. Congestion builds and clears in front of you: where roads flow, slow, and jam, and when.
The traffic data is open under CC-BY. Explore trip flows on the map, or take the open data with you.
A demo of the platform, running live
Earth Traffic is a free tool, but it is also a demo: it runs on the same cloud-native ELEMNT stack as everything else, vector tiles and PMTiles served straight from object storage with no tile server. When you want to serve your own data at this scale, the ELEMNT platform picks up with the OGC API surface. Agent access and developer tooling are on the roadmap.
