What Place is, and is not
Place is for exploring and visualizing places. It is not a geocoding service: ELEMNT has no geocoding SKU, so Place does not turn an address into coordinates. Keep your existing geocoder, and use Place to explore, filter, and export open place data.
How it fits ELEMNT
- Style the map. Pair Place with ELEMNT Carto to design the basemap under your places.
- Serve at scale. When you are ready to serve your own data, the core ELEMNT platform picks up with the OGC API surface, with agent access and developer tooling on the roadmap.
- On the roadmap. Dataset versioning lands Q4 2026, real-time collaborative editing follows Q1 2027.
